Daily Bible Verse

Psalm 118:24 · KJV

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Reflection

Beloved, on this tenth day of July, the psalmist offers us a truth so simple yet so transforming that entire lives can pivot upon it: today itself is a divine gift. The Hebrew word for 'made' here (asah) carries the weight of intentional craftsmanship — the same word used of God's creative work in Genesis. This day was not accidental. It was not merely another rotation of the earth. It was fashioned by the hand of the Almighty with you specifically in mind, with purposes appointed, mercies prepared, and grace pre-positioned for every step you will take. Notice that rejoicing here is not presented as a feeling to wait for, but a decision to make. 'We WILL rejoice' — it is an act of the will, a deliberate response to the reality of God's sovereignty over our hours. Matthew Henry observed that every day of our lives should be considered a day of the Lord's making, and therefore a day for holy joy. When we grasp this, complaint loses its grip, anxiety loses its foothold, and even our trials are baptized in hope. The circumstances of your July 10th may not be perfect, but the God who made this day is. Stewardship of the day is also stewardship of wealth — for time is the currency in which all other riches are earned, invested, and multiplied. Redeem these twenty-four hours (Ephesians 5:16) with gratitude, purposeful work, generous love, and unhurried communion with the Lord. Rejoice, dear one. He made this day for you.
