Lamentations 3:22-23

It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
— Lamentations 3:22-23
Today's Reflection
On this Lord's Day morning, the prophet Jeremiah reminds us of a truth so profound it has steadied saints through every generation of trial. Writing amidst the smoldering ruins of Jerusalem, surrounded by devastation that would crush most spirits, Jeremiah lifts his eyes from the rubble and beholds something unshakeable: the mercies of God, fresh as the dawn itself. The very fact that we draw breath today, that the sun rose once more over our lives, is not happenstance but the evidence of a compassion that simply will not quit on us. Consider the staggering generosity of a God whose mercies are 'new every morning.' He does not ration grace like a miser counting coins, nor does He recycle yesterday's forgiveness for today's failures. Each sunrise carries with it a fresh supply, perfectly suited to the day's particular burdens. The manna in the wilderness fell daily for this very reason, that Israel might learn to trust not in storehouses but in the Storehouser Himself. Whatever you carry into this Sabbath, whatever consumed yesterday, His compassions have already arrived ahead of you, waiting at the threshold of this new day. And here is the wealth principle hidden in this ancient lament: true riches flow from faithfulness, not from frenzy. God's economy operates on the bedrock of His unchanging character, 'great is thy faithfulness.' When we anchor our finances, our families, and our futures to the One who never fails, we step into a kind of prosperity the world cannot manufacture or take away. Build today on His faithfulness, and you build on rock that no storm can shake.
