Start with God

Beloved, before your feet touch the floor this Monday morning, lift your eyes to the God whose mercies are new every morning. Lamentations 3:22-23 declares, 'It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.' The prophet Jeremiah wrote these words from the ashes of a ruined Jerusalem, and yet he anchored his hope not in circumstances but in the unshakable character of God. Whatever yesterday held — victory or defeat, abundance or lack — today arrives with a fresh deposit of grace, custom-poured for the exact weight you will carry. Israel in the wilderness learned this lesson through manna. Exodus 16:21 tells us, 'And they gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating.' They could not stockpile it; yesterday's provision would spoil overnight. God was training them — and He is training us — to live in daily dependence. Jesus taught the same rhythm in Matthew 6:11, 'Give us this day our daily bread.' Notice He did not say 'this month' or 'this year.' Kingdom people gather morning manna, morning mercy, morning wisdom. The soul that tries to live on stale bread from yesterday's encounter will faint by noon. This morning-first discipline is also the foundation of biblical wealth. Proverbs 8:17 promises, 'I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.' The Hebrew word for 'early' (shachar) carries the sense of dawn-diligence — a heart that turns to God before it turns to the day's demands. When you seek Him first, you are not merely being religious; you are aligning with Matthew 6:33, 'But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.' The order matters. Kingdom first, then provision follows. Presence first, then productivity flows. So rise, child of God, and gather your manna. Open the Word before you open your inbox. Speak to the Father before you speak to the world. Psalm 5:3 becomes your posture: 'My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.' The looking up changes everything. When your first glance is toward heaven, every glance afterward is steadied by what you saw there. Today is not a burden to survive but a gift to steward — and the God who parted seas and multiplied loaves walks beside you into every hour of it.
