Manna for the Morning: Rise and Receive

Beloved, the sun has crested the horizon once more, and with it comes a fresh portion of grace measured precisely for this day. In the wilderness, the Lord taught His people a sacred rhythm: 'The people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day' (Exodus 16:4). Yesterday's manna could not sustain today's journey, and tomorrow's bread has not yet fallen. God meets you here, in this morning, with exactly what you need to walk forward in faith. Consider the quiet confidence of David, who wrote, 'My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up' (Psalm 5:3). Notice the posture — directing prayer upward and then looking up to watch for the answer. Morning is not merely a time of day; it is a spiritual threshold where the soul aligns itself with heaven before the world demands its attention. When you give God the firstfruits of your hours, you declare that He is the source of every good thing that will flow through the day. This truth carries powerful implications for the life of stewardship and wealth. Proverbs 3:9-10 instructs, 'Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: so shall thy barns be filled with plenty.' The principle of the firstfruits is not merely financial — it is temporal, emotional, and spiritual. Whatever you place first before the Lord, He multiplies. The believer who begins the morning with worship cultivates a heart that handles money, relationships, and opportunities with eternal wisdom rather than anxious striving. So rise today not as one who must manufacture strength, but as one who receives it. 'It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness' (Lamentations 3:22-23). Whatever yesterday held — its victories or its sorrows — has been gathered up into the hand of a faithful God. Walk into this day light-footed, expectant, and anchored in the unchanging love of your Father.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of this morning and the fresh mercies that meet me here. Teach me to seek You first, to honor You with the firstfruits of my time, my heart, and my resources. Fill me with Your wisdom, guard me with Your peace, and lead me in paths of righteousness throughout this day. In the precious name of Jesus Christ, amen.
