Manna for the Morning: Rising on the Faithfulness of God — Morning Devotional

Good morning, beloved. Before your feet touch the floor and the demands of the day rush in, lift your eyes to the One whose mercies are new every morning. The prophet Jeremiah, writing from the rubble of a fallen city, declared: 'It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness' (Lamentations 3:22-23, KJV). Notice that he did not say his circumstances were new — his sorrows remained. What was new was the mercy of God meeting him at sunrise. The same is true for you today. Whatever you carried into sleep last night, God's compassion has arrived fresh at your door this June morning, sufficient for every step you will take. In the wilderness, the Israelites were taught this very lesson through bread from heaven. Exodus 16 tells us that manna fell each morning, and the people were instructed to gather only what they needed for that day. Yesterday's manna would spoil; tomorrow's was not yet given. God was training a people to trust Him one sunrise at a time. Jesus echoed this when He taught us to pray, 'Give us this day our daily bread' (Matthew 6:11). Daily bread. Daily grace. Daily strength. The Father does not deposit a year's supply of courage into your soul at once — He gives you exactly what today requires, and He will be just as faithful tomorrow. This morning rhythm of dependence is also the foundation of true wealth. Proverbs 3:9-10 instructs, 'Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: so shall thy barns be filled with plenty.' Firstfruits — the first and best, given before anything else is claimed. When you give God the first moments of your morning in prayer, the first portion of your income in generosity, and the first allegiance of your heart in worship, you align yourself with the principle that has carried saints through famine and abundance alike. Wealth without God is a heavy burden; wealth surrendered to God becomes a river of blessing flowing through you to others. So rise today, beloved, not in your own striving, but in the strength of the Lord who has already gone before you. Psalm 90:14 prays, 'O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.' Let your first satisfaction be in Him. Let your first conversation be with Him. Let your first investment be in His Kingdom. The day before you is a gift, wrapped in mercy and tied with faithfulness — open it with gratitude, and watch how the Father meets you in every hour.
