Morning Manna: Rise on the Rock That Cannot Be Moved — Morning Devotional

Beloved, the sun has crossed the threshold of another day, and with it, the steadfast love of the Lord meets you fresh on the doorstep of your soul. The prophet Jeremiah, writing from the ashes of a fallen Jerusalem, refused to let grief have the final word. He declared, 'It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness' (Lamentations 3:22-23, KJV). Notice the rhythm of grace — mercies are not rationed from yesterday's supply; they arrive new with the dawn, custom-measured for the burdens and battles of June 8th. Whatever you carried into sleep last night, you do not have to carry into this morning alone. David understood this morning posture. He wrote, 'My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up' (Psalm 5:3). The Hebrew word for 'direct' here, 'arak,' is the same word used for arranging wood on the altar or setting battle lines in order. To pray in the morning is not merely to whisper a hopeful sentiment — it is to deliberately arrange your day upon the altar of God's will before the noise of the world rearranges it for you. When you give God the firstfruits of your hours, you are declaring that He is sovereign over your schedule, your finances, your relationships, and your fears. Jesus Himself modeled this anchoring rhythm. Mark 1:35 tells us, 'And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.' The Son of God, who needed nothing, sought everything from the Father before sunrise. If our Savior required the quiet communion of morning to fulfill His calling, how much more do we? This is the secret place where character is forged, anxiety is dethroned, and stewardship is rightly ordered. The wealth of a Spirit-led day begins long before the first transaction or task — it begins on your knees. So as you step into this Monday, remember Isaiah's promise: 'They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint' (Isaiah 40:31). Waiting is not passivity — it is the active trust that God will supply manna for today's journey, just as He did in the wilderness. Gather what you need now. Do not hoard tomorrow's worries, for tomorrow's mercies have not yet arrived. Today's grace is sufficient. Today's God is faithful. Rise on the Rock that cannot be moved.
