Manna for the Morning: Rise on the Rock That Does Not Move — Morning Devotional

Good morning, beloved. Before the demands of this Friday reach you, let the Lord reach you first. The psalmist declared, 'My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up' (Psalm 5:3, KJV). Notice the order — voice first, then looking up. When we begin the day speaking to God before speaking to our problems, our perspective is realigned with heaven. The same God who hung the sun outside your window has already gone before you into every meeting, every conversation, every quiet hour. He is not waiting to be discovered in your day; He is the One who authored it. Jesus taught, 'Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock' (Matthew 7:24). A house is not built in a moment — it rises stone by stone, decision by decision, morning by morning. The foundation you lay in these first quiet minutes will hold the weight of whatever the day brings. Storms are not optional in this life, but the foundation is. Anchor yourself now, while the winds are still, so that when pressure comes you will not be scrambling for footing — you will already be standing on the Rock. There is also a deep wealth principle hidden in the morning hours. Proverbs 8:17 says of wisdom, 'I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.' The Hebrew word for 'early' carries the sense of earnestness and priority, not merely time of day. What we seek first, we are shaped by. Seek entertainment first, and you will be entertained but empty. Seek money first, and you will be busy but anxious. But seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness first, and 'all these things shall be added unto you' (Matthew 6:33). The morning is not just a time slot — it is a confession of who sits on the throne of your life. So today, lift your eyes. The mercies of the Lord 'are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness' (Lamentations 3:23). Whatever yesterday held — its victories or its failures — the manna of yesterday cannot feed you today. God has fresh provision, fresh grace, fresh strength prepared specifically for this Friday. Receive it. Walk in it. And let your life today be a quiet sermon that your God is faithful, your foundation is firm, and your future is secure in Christ.
