Manna for the Morning: Strength for This Day — Morning Devotional

Good morning, beloved. Before your feet touch the floor, before the inbox opens and the world rushes in, lift your eyes to the Lord who has already been awake on your behalf. Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds us, 'It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.' The mercy that met you yesterday is not the same mercy you need today — God has prepared a fresh portion, specifically measured for the road ahead of you. Yesterday's manna would have spoiled; today's is fragrant and sufficient. In Exodus 16, the Israelites were told to gather only what they needed for the day. This was not God's stinginess, but His tenderness — He was teaching them to trust Him one sunrise at a time. So often we exhaust ourselves trying to carry tomorrow's burdens with today's strength. Jesus echoed this in Matthew 6:34, 'Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.' Faith is not the absence of uncertainty; faith is the daily decision to gather God's provision and trust Him for the next sunrise. This day — June 14th — is a gift you have never lived before. Psalm 118:24 declares, 'This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.' Notice the language: not someday, not when circumstances improve, but this day. Whatever you are facing — a difficult conversation, financial pressure, a long task list, a quiet ache — God has equipped you for it. Isaiah 40:31 promises that 'they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.' Your strength is not stockpiled; it is supplied as you walk. So go into this morning anchored, not anxious. Speak less to your storm and more to your Savior. Let gratitude be your first language and prayer your steady rhythm. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, 'Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.' Walk obediently in the small things today, and watch how God enlarges your soul through them. The same God who feeds the sparrows and clothes the lilies is mindful of you this very hour.
