Mercies New as the Morning Light
Beloved, lift your eyes this June morning and behold the faithfulness of God renewed once again. The prophet Jeremiah, even amid the rubble of Jerusalem, declared, 'It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness' (Lamentations 3:22-23, KJV). Notice the timing — His mercies are not stale leftovers from yesterday's table, nor borrowed from tomorrow's promise. They are fresh, manna-like, gathered only in the dawn He has given you today. Whatever burdens followed you into sleep last night, the God who spoke light into darkness has already prepared a new supply of grace for the hours ahead.
David understood this rhythm of morning surrender when he wrote, 'My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up' (Psalm 5:3). To 'direct' meant to arrange — as a priest carefully laid the wood upon the altar before the sacrifice. Your morning is that altar. Before the noise of the world crowds in, before emails and obligations clamor for your attention, arrange your heart Godward. Look up. The One who clothes the lilies and feeds the sparrows has not forgotten you; He is already at work in the day you have not yet seen.
There is also a stewardship to the morning that Scripture quietly teaches. Proverbs reminds us, 'The soul of the diligent shall be made fat' (Proverbs 13:4), and 'In all labour there is profit' (Proverbs 14:23). True biblical prosperity — whether spiritual, relational, or material — is sown in the disciplined faithfulness of ordinary mornings. Jesus Himself rose 'a great while before day' to commune with the Father (Mark 1:35), and from that hidden place flowed the public power of His ministry. Your secret morning with God shapes the substance of your visible day.
So step into this Tuesday, June 16, with holy expectation. The mercies are new, the altar is ready, the Father is listening. Whatever yesterday held — its victories or its failures — has been washed beneath the blood of Christ. Today is a fresh page in the book of your obedience. Walk in it humbly, work in it diligently, worship in it joyfully, and you will find that the God of Jacob is indeed your refuge and your reward.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of this new morning and the unfailing mercies You have prepared for me before I ever opened my eyes. Quiet my heart, order my steps, and let every thought, word, and labor of this day be an offering pleasing in Your sight. Provide for my needs, prosper the work of my hands, and use me as a vessel of Your grace to everyone I meet. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray, amen.
