Manna for the Morning: Strength for This New Day — Morning Devotional

Beloved, lift your eyes this morning to the God whose mercies are new with the sunrise. The prophet Jeremiah, writing from the ashes of a broken city, declared: 'It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness' (Lamentations 3:22-23, KJV). Whatever yesterday held — its victories or its wounds, its progress or its stumbles — God has stored up a fresh portion of grace for today. Like the manna that fell in the wilderness, His provision cannot be hoarded; it must be gathered each morning, fresh from His hand. Consider how Jesus Himself began His days. Mark tells us, 'And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed' (Mark 1:35). The Son of God, sustained by perfect communion with the Father, modeled what every soul needs: a quiet anchor before the noise of the world rushes in. Before the emails, before the demands, before the headlines — there is a Voice that calls you 'beloved' and a throne where grace is always available. To begin the day with God is not religious duty; it is the wisdom of the wise. This is also the foundation of true wealth. Solomon, the wealthiest king of his age, wrote, 'The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it' (Proverbs 10:22). Notice the order — blessing precedes riches, and the blessing of the Lord carries no hidden grief. Seek first the Kingdom this morning (Matthew 6:33), and trust that the same God who clothes the lilies and feeds the sparrows knows every need you carry into this day. Stewardship begins not with a budget but with a surrendered heart. So rise, child of God. Put on the garments of praise. Whatever this Thursday holds, you do not face it alone. 'The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace' (Exodus 14:14). Walk in expectancy, work with diligence, and rest in the assurance that the One who began a good work in you will complete it (Philippians 1:6). Today is a gift; receive it with open hands and a grateful heart.
