Mercies New as Morning Light — Morning Devotional

Beloved, lift your eyes this June morning and receive the truth declared in Lamentations 3:22-23: 'It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.' The prophet Jeremiah penned these words in the ashes of Jerusalem's ruin, yet he discovered what every weary saint must learn — God's mercy is not a finite reservoir that drains with our failures, but a fresh wellspring that rises with the sun. Whatever yesterday held — its victories or its regrets, its abundance or its lack — today arrives untouched, gift-wrapped in grace. Consider the manna of Exodus 16. Each morning the Israelites gathered only what they needed for that day, and any hoarded portion bred worms by dawn. The Lord was teaching them, and us, a profound economy: provision is daily, trust is daily, dependence is daily. Jesus echoed this rhythm in the Lord's Prayer — 'Give us this day our daily bread' (Matthew 6:11). True wealth, both spiritual and material, is not measured in stockpiles but in the steady confidence that the Hand which fed you yesterday will not withdraw today. Proverbs 3:5-6 anchors this posture: 'Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.' The morning is the soul's strategic hour. David declared in Psalm 5:3, 'My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.' Before the noise of the day claims your attention, before the markets open and the messages arrive, set your compass by the unchanging Word. Cast your cares, name your needs, and rehearse God's promises. The believer who begins the day at the throne of grace walks the day from a position of inherited authority, not anxious striving. Philippians 4:6-7 promises that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard the heart that has first surrendered it. So step into this June day as one richly loved and richly resourced. The God who clothes the lilies and counts the sparrows (Matthew 6:28-30) has already gone before you. Your labor today is not to manufacture provision but to partner with Providence — sowing diligently, stewarding wisely, and giving generously, knowing that 'he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully' (2 Corinthians 9:6). Let this morning's mercies become this evening's testimony.
