Mercies New as the Morning Light

Beloved, lift your eyes this June morning and behold a truth that the prophet Jeremiah discovered in the rubble of Jerusalem: 'It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness' (Lamentations 3:22-23, KJV). The dew that glistens on the grass outside your window is a parable. Each droplet appeared in the quiet of night, untouched by yesterday's heat, fresh for this very hour. So it is with the mercy of God toward you. Whatever stumbling marked yesterday — whatever word you wish you had not spoken, whatever opportunity you failed to seize — the sunrise of June 25th has come bearing a clean basin of grace, drawn from the inexhaustible well of the Father's heart. Consider the manna in the wilderness, that bread from heaven which fell six mornings a week for forty years (Exodus 16). The Israelites could not hoard it; what they tried to store overnight bred worms and stank. God designed it this way on purpose, training His people to trust Him for daily provision. Jesus echoed this when He taught us to pray, 'Give us this day our daily bread' (Matthew 6:11). Notice He did not say weekly or monthly. Heaven's economy operates on a daily rhythm of dependence. Your strength for today's tasks, your wisdom for today's decisions, your patience for today's relationships — none of it must be conjured from your own dwindling reserves. It is gathered fresh, at the feet of Jesus, in the early hours. This is also the secret to true wealth, both spiritual and material. The Proverbs counsel, 'Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds' (Proverbs 27:23). Stewardship is a morning discipline. The faithful steward does not drift through the day reacting; he rises, surveys what God has entrusted, and aligns the hours to honor the Giver. Whether your 'flocks' today are spreadsheets, children, patients, students, or soil, bring them before the Lord now. Ask Him to multiply the small loaves of your time and talent, as He did on the Galilean hillside, until what seemed insufficient feeds multitudes. So step into this day, dear one, not as a debtor to yesterday but as an heir of the morning. Psalm 30:5 declares, 'Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.' That joy is not a feeling you must manufacture — it is a Person who has already risen, and He is risen indeed. Walk with Him. Listen for His voice in the ordinary. Expect His mercy to meet you at every turn of the clock, for He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and His faithfulness is great.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of this new morning and for mercies that are fresh as the dawn. Forgive what is past, strengthen me for what is present, and order my steps according to Your perfect wisdom this June day. Multiply the small offerings of my hands, guard my heart from anxiety, and let every task I touch become an altar of worship to You. In the mighty and tender name of Jesus, amen.
