Morning Light, Morning Mercy — Morning Devotional

Beloved, lift your eyes this morning, for the same God who divided the darkness from the light at creation has parted the night from your day once again. Lamentations 3:22-23 declares, 'It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.' Every sunrise is a sermon preached by the heavens, reminding you that yesterday's failures are buried in the grave of grace, and today you are handed a fresh inheritance of mercy. You did not earn this morning, and you cannot exhaust the mercy that arrived with it. King David understood the sacred power of the morning hour. He wrote in Psalm 5:3, 'My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.' Notice that David did not merely pray in the morning — he *directed* his prayer, the way an archer aims an arrow, and then he *looked up* expectantly for God's reply. The morning is not a deadline to outrun; it is an altar to approach. Before the noise of the world crowds your ear, let the still, small voice of your Father set the agenda of your heart. This day is also a vessel for fruitful labor and faithful stewardship. Proverbs 10:4-5 reminds us, 'He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. He that gathereth in summer is a wise son.' True biblical wealth is not measured only in coin, but in the diligence, integrity, and worship you pour into the hours God has entrusted to you. Whatever your hand finds to do — a spreadsheet, a sermon, a sandwich for a child, a service to a stranger — do it heartily, as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23), and watch how He multiplies small offerings into kingdom abundance. So step into this Sunday, June 28th, with holy expectancy. The Lord has already gone before you (Deuteronomy 31:8), the Spirit walks beside you, and the Word of Christ dwells richly within you. Do not borrow tomorrow's burdens, for sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof (Matthew 6:34), and sufficient unto the day is the grace of Jesus. Anchor yourself in His promises, lift your face to His light, and let your life this morning be a living psalm of trust.
