Rise With the Mercies That Are New — Morning Devotional

Beloved, before your feet touch the floor this morning, hear the ancient promise breathed fresh over July 3, 2026: 'It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness' (Lamentations 3:22-23, KJV). Jeremiah wrote these words while sitting in the rubble of Jerusalem, surrounded by loss no human strength could repair. Yet from that ash heap he lifted his eyes and discovered that God's mercy is not a rationed inheritance from yesterday — it is a fresh loaf, warm on the table, waiting for you today. Whatever grief, grind, or gladness you carry into this day, God has already prepared a portion of grace measured perfectly for the hours ahead. Jesus taught His disciples to pray, 'Give us this day our daily bread' (Matthew 6:11), and He was echoing the wilderness pattern in Exodus 16, where manna could not be hoarded. Any Israelite who tried to stockpile it woke to find it spoiled and crawling with worms. God was training His people — and He is training you — to live in daily dependence, not in anxious self-sufficiency. The manna of Christ's presence, wisdom, and provision cannot be stored in a spiritual pantry. It must be gathered morning by morning, on your knees, in His Word, with an open heart. This is also the shape of true, sustainable wealth. Proverbs 13:11 declares, 'Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.' The Kingdom pattern is not frantic accumulation but faithful gathering — small, steady, obedient steps that compound under God's blessing. Whether you are stewarding a paycheck, a business, a family, or a calling, ask the Lord this morning: 'Father, what is the manna You have set before me today?' Then gather it — a diligent hour of work, a generous act, a difficult conversation entered in love, a debt paid down, a seed sown into someone else's harvest. So rise, child of God. The mercies of yesterday have done their work; the mercies of today are already falling like dew around your tent. Do not carry into July 3rd the failures of July 2nd, nor the anxieties of July 4th. 'This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it' (Psalm 118:24). Gather the manna. Trust the Giver. Walk humbly, work faithfully, love boldly — and watch the God of Lamentations turn ruins into resurrection right before your eyes.
