The Tithe: God's Financial System

Most believers know about tithing but few understand why it works. This teaching unpacks the economic architecture of the tithe and why it is the foundation of biblical prosperity.

Malachi 3:10-11Genesis 14:20Proverbs 3:9-10Luke 6:38
Malachi 3:10 contains one of the boldest invitations in Scripture: 'Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.' God never invites us to test Him — except here. This is the only place in the Bible where God says test Me. The tithe is not a religious transaction; it is a Kingdom financial mechanism. The word tithe means a tenth. The first 10% of everything you earn belongs to God — not by obligation, but by divine design. When you give your tithe, you acknowledge that everything you have comes from God. This act of honour unlocks covenant blessings that cannot be accessed any other way. Abraham tithed to Melchizedek before the Mosaic Law was given, establishing that the tithe predates religion. These were not legal obligations — they were faith responses to divine encounter. The promise attached to the tithe is threefold: God rebukes the devourer for your sake, He opens windows of heaven over your finances, and your productivity increases supernaturally. The 90% left after tithing goes further than 100% without it — because God's blessing is on it. Practically, this means the first payment you make each month is to God. This is called firstfruits giving. It is a declaration of trust and priority that positions you for supernatural financial acceleration.
