Daily Bible Verse

Psalm 118:24 · KJV

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Reflection

Today, on this final Saturday of May, the psalmist's ancient declaration rings as fresh as the morning dew. Every sunrise is a sovereign act of God — He who hung the stars and measured the seas has personally appointed this very day for you. It is not an accident of the calendar, nor a mere rotation of the earth, but a deliberate gift from the Father of lights, in whom there is no variation or shadow of turning (James 1:17). When we grasp that today was made by the Lord, our perspective shifts from surviving the day to stewarding it. Notice the response the psalmist commands: 'we WILL rejoice and be glad.' Joy here is not a feeling that descends upon us — it is a decision we ascend to. Circumstances may press, burdens may weigh, and the unknowns of tomorrow may loom large, yet the believer chooses gladness because the Maker of the day is also the Keeper of the soul. As Nehemiah declared, 'the joy of the LORD is your strength' (Nehemiah 8:10). This joy becomes the soil in which faith, generosity, and Kingdom wealth grow. As you step into this day, refuse to postpone your praise until conditions improve. Worship now. Work heartily as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23). Bless someone today, give cheerfully, and trust that the God who made this day has already prepared good works for you to walk in (Ephesians 2:10). Today is not ordinary — it is holy ground, custom-made by Heaven for your purpose.
