Daily Bible Verse
“Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”
Reflection
Solomon's wisdom here strikes at the very heart of biblical stewardship: our wealth is not truly ours, but a sacred trust from the Almighty. To honor the Lord with our 'substance' means recognizing Him as the source of every blessing, every increase, every breath. The 'firstfruits' principle is profound—we give to God not from our leftovers, but from the very first and best of what we receive. This act of faith declares that we trust the Giver more than the gift itself. Notice the divine economy at work in verse 10. When we honor God first, He responds with overflowing abundance—'barns filled with plenty' and 'presses bursting with new wine.' This is not a transactional formula or prosperity gospel, but a covenant principle. God cannot be outgiven. When our hearts release what we hold tightly, our hands become open to receive what He longs to pour out. The believer who tithes faithfully discovers that ninety percent under God's blessing stretches further than one hundred percent under our own anxious management. Today, examine where your treasure truly lies. Are you giving God your firstfruits, or merely your leftovers? Are you trusting Him as your true provider, or relying solely on your own strength? Take a step of faith today—whether through generous giving, sacrificial service, or surrendered planning—and watch how the God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills meets you with abundance you cannot contain.
