The world will try to answer that question with a thousand voices — your bank account, your failures, your job title, your past sins, the whispers of people who wounded you. But beloved, the moment you stepped into Christ, every one of those voices was overruled by the voice of the Father who thundered from Heaven, 'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.' Your identity is no longer negotiated at the table of public opinion. It is settled at the empty tomb. Today, you will not merely learn about identity — you will remember who you have always been in the eyes of God.
Our anchor Scripture is 2 Corinthians 5:17: 'Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!' Notice Paul does not say you are being renovated, retouched, or repaired. He says you are a new creation. The Greek word is 'kainos' — brand new in quality, unprecedented in kind. You are not the sum of your yesterdays. You are the signature of God's todays. And the enemy's greatest strategy against you is not temptation — it is amnesia. If he can make you forget who you are, he can make you live beneath what you have been given.
First, you are CHOSEN. Ephesians 1:4 declares, 'For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.' Before the galaxies were flung into orbit, before the mountains were pressed into place, before Adam drew his first breath — God wrote your name on the palm of His hand. You were not an accident of biology or a mistake of timing. You were a deliberate act of divine love. Stop begging for a seat at tables Jesus already flipped for you. The Father chose you when you had nothing to offer, and He is not looking to un-choose you now.
Second, you are REDEEMED. Galatians 3:13 proclaims, 'Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.' Redemption means the price has been paid in full. Every chain — addiction, shame, generational poverty, fear, rejection — was nailed to a Roman cross two thousand years ago. You are not fighting for victory; you are fighting from victory. When the accuser drags your past into the courtroom of your mind, hold up the receipt of Calvary. The blood of Jesus is not a partial payment. It is a paid-in-full stamp across the ledger of your life.
Third, you are ROYAL. 1 Peter 2:9 announces, 'But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession.' You do not wear a crown because you earned it; you wear it because you were adopted into the family that owns the throne. Royalty does not scramble; royalty rests. Royalty does not beg for scraps under the enemy's table; royalty feasts at the Father's. This is why you cannot afford to speak curses over yourself, entertain small dreams, or partner with insecurity. Heaven has invested too much in you to have you live like a spiritual orphan.
So how do we walk this out on Monday morning, in the traffic, at the hospital bed, in the quiet places where nobody claps? First, renew your mind daily — Romans 12:2 says transformation comes by the renewing of the mind. Speak Scripture over yourself before the world speaks lies into you. Second, guard your associations; you cannot soar with eagles if you keep pecking with chickens. Third, serve from fullness, not emptiness. When your identity is settled, your ministry becomes an overflow, not a performance. And finally, steward well — because kings and queens of the Kingdom handle money, time, and influence as trustees of Heaven, not owners of dust.
Beloved, there is an altar in your heart tonight. Every lie you have believed about yourself — that you are not enough, that you are too much, that you are too far gone — bring it here and lay it down. The cross is not a suggestion; it is a summons. Jesus is not asking for the polished version of you. He is asking for the real you. Surrender the mask. Surrender the shame. Surrender the striving. And rise up in the name Heaven has always called you: BELOVED, CHOSEN, REDEEMED, ROYAL. This is who you are. This is who you have always been. Now go and live like it.
