Daily Bible Verse
“It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Reflection
In the heart of Jeremiah's lament over a ruined Jerusalem, a sudden shaft of light breaks through the darkness. Surrounded by devastation, the prophet anchors his soul not in changing circumstances, but in the unchanging character of God. The Hebrew word for 'mercies' here is *chesed* — that rich covenant love that refuses to let go, that pursues us when we wander, that sustains us when we falter. We are not consumed, Jeremiah declares, not because of our strength or worthiness, but because God's compassions simply do not run out. The well is bottomless. The supply is endless. And here is the wonder: these mercies are *new every morning*. Just as the Israelites in the wilderness could not hoard manna from yesterday but had to gather fresh provision each day, so too God's grace meets us at the dawn of every new day, perfectly suited for the trials and triumphs ahead. Yesterday's mercy was sufficient for yesterday. Today's portion is already prepared, waiting for you as the sun rises. Whatever you carried into the night — regret, weariness, fear — God meets you in the morning with a love that has been awake all night, ready to begin again. Great is thy faithfulness. This is not a sentimental phrase but a courtroom verdict, a settled fact upon which we can build our entire lives. When markets shake, when relationships strain, when our own hearts grow faint, the faithfulness of God remains the bedrock beneath our feet. Step into this June morning knowing that the same God who hung the stars has already prepared mercy enough for every moment you will face today. Receive it. Walk in it. And let your gratitude become the soil in which true wealth — the wealth of a soul rooted in God — grows deep and unshakable.
