Daily Bible Verse
“Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”
Reflection
Solomon, the wisest and wealthiest king of Israel, opens a window into the divine economy with these words. To honor the Lord with our 'substance' is to acknowledge that every dollar, every harvest, every increase originates from His hand. The 'firstfruits' principle is not merely about giving — it is about priority. When we offer God the first and best of what we receive, rather than the leftovers, we declare with our actions what our lips often profess: that He is the true Source of all provision. Notice the beautiful promise woven into this command. God does not ask us to give so that we might be impoverished, but so that our 'barns' might overflow. This is not a transactional formula or a prosperity gospel manipulation — it is a covenantal rhythm. When we trust God enough to release the firstfruits, we position ourselves to receive His abundance. The wine presses bursting forth speak of joy, celebration, and surplus beyond mere survival. Today, consider what 'firstfruits' looks like in your own life. It may be the first hour of your morning given to prayer, the first portion of your paycheck given in tithe, or the first moments of a new opportunity surrendered to His guidance. Honor Him first, and watch how He multiplies what remains.
