Daily Bible Verse

Proverbs 3:9-10 · KJV
Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

Reflection

On this summer morning, the Lord calls us to a sacred rhythm of giving — placing Him first in every harvest of our lives. To honor God with our substance is not merely to tithe from leftovers, but to offer the firstfruits, the very best and earliest portion of what He has entrusted to us. This act of faith declares that we trust the Giver more than the gift, and that our security rests not in barns we have built, but in the God who fills them. The promise that follows is both material and spiritual. God pledges abundance — barns filled with plenty, presses overflowing with new wine. Yet the deeper treasure is the posture of the heart that learns to release before it receives. When we give first, we are released from the grip of fear and scarcity, and we step into the freedom of a child who knows his Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Today, consider what firstfruits look like in your own life. It may be the first hour of your morning given to prayer, the first portion of your paycheck given in worship, or the first energies of your day spent serving others. Honor Him first, and watch how He honors you in return — not always with overflowing barns, but always with an overflowing soul.
