Daily Bible Verse

Psalm 118:24 · KJV

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Reflection

There is a holy defiance woven into this verse — a declaration that no matter what June 9th brings, today is not an accident. The Lord Himself has fashioned this day, hammered out its hours, and placed it into your hands like fresh manna. The psalmist does not say 'if circumstances permit, we will rejoice.' He commands the soul: 'we WILL rejoice.' Joy here is not a feeling that waits for permission; it is a covenant response to the God who authored the sunrise. Consider that the same God who spoke galaxies into being also spoke this Tuesday into being. Every breath you take today is a deposit from heaven's treasury. The wealth of this day is not measured in dollars earned or tasks completed, but in the simple, staggering truth that you are alive in a world your Father made. The early church fathers called this verse 'the gateway psalm' — the doorway through which the believer walks from anxiety into worship. Whatever weight you carry into this morning — financial pressure, family burdens, uncertainty about tomorrow — lay it down at the threshold of this truth: God made this day on purpose, for you, with full knowledge of what you would need. Rejoice not because everything is easy, but because the One who holds your today also holds your forever.
