Solomon's words to his son cut to the heart of what it means to walk by faith. To trust the LORD with *all* thine heart is to surrender the parts of life we most want to control — our finances, our relationships, our future. The Hebrew word for 'trust' here, batach, carries the sense of lying helplessly on one's back, fully dependent. It is not a passive resignation but an active casting of our full weight upon God's character, knowing He is faithful even when the path ahead is shrouded. Notice the warning that follows: 'lean not unto thine own understanding.' Our reasoning is not evil, but it is limited. We see the moment; God sees the generations. When we acknowledge Him in all our ways — in business decisions, in quiet mornings, in difficult conversations — we invite His wisdom to shape every step. This is the doorway to true prosperity, the kind that endures. Today, ask yourself: where am I leaning on my own understanding instead of His? Bring that area before Him in prayer. The promise is not that the path will be easy, but that it will be *directed* — straightened, made level, guided by the very hand that flung the stars into place. A directed path is worth more than a self-chosen one, every time.
