Daily Bible Verse

Psalm 118:24 · KJV

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Reflection

Beloved, today is not an accident of time, nor merely another square on the calendar — it is a deliberate gift, hand-crafted by the Sovereign God who spoke galaxies into being. The psalmist does not say 'this is a day,' but 'this is THE day which the LORD hath made.' Every sunrise carries His signature; every breath you draw is borrowed from His mercy. When we grasp that today itself is a miracle freshly minted from heaven's workshop, the trivial irritations lose their power and the present moment regains its wonder. Notice the response the verse commands: 'we will rejoice and be glad in it.' Rejoicing is not a feeling we wait upon — it is a choice we make in covenant with the Maker of the day. The Hebrew word for 'rejoice' here, *giyl*, carries the sense of spinning around with delight, of an irrepressible inner gladness that breaks forth into outward celebration. Even when circumstances feel heavy, the redeemed soul can rejoice because the Day-Maker has not abdicated His throne. This verse was sung by pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem and was quoted by the crowds welcoming Jesus on Palm Sunday (Matthew 21:9). For the believer, every 'today' becomes a foretaste of that eternal Day where Christ reigns. So receive June 20, 2026 as a sealed envelope from your Father — open it with expectation, walk through it with gratitude, and let your gladness be a sermon to a weary world.
