Reflection

On this June morning, the psalmist's ancient words ring with fresh urgency. Every sunrise is not an accident of cosmic machinery but a deliberate gift from the Creator's hand. The Hebrew verb 'asah' (made) speaks of intentional craftsmanship — God has fashioned this particular Saturday as carefully as He hung the stars. Before you knew you would open your eyes, He had already prepared mercies, opportunities, and divine appointments to fill these twenty-four hours. Notice the response the psalmist prescribes: 'we will rejoice and be glad.' This is not a feeling that descends upon us — it is a choice we make in defiance of whatever burdens we carry. Joy here is an act of worship, a declaration that God's sovereignty outweighs our circumstances. Charles Spurgeon called this verse 'the Christian's daily motto,' reminding us that gladness is the proper posture of those who know the Author of their days. Whatever yesterday held, whatever tomorrow threatens, this day belongs to the Lord. Receive it as the treasure it is. Spend its hours generously in worship, work, and love. The same God who made this day has also made you for it — equipped, appointed, and beloved.
