In the heart of Jeremiah's lament over a fallen Jerusalem, this radiant promise breaks through like dawn after the longest night. The prophet, surrounded by ruin and grief, fixes his gaze not on what has been lost but on what cannot be lost — the steadfast love of God. The Hebrew word for 'mercies' here is *chesed*, that covenant-keeping loyalty that refuses to let go of His people. We are not consumed, not because we deserve preservation, but because His compassions are inexhaustible. Notice the beautiful rhythm: 'new every morning.' Each sunrise is a fresh delivery of grace, custom-made for the day ahead. Yesterday's mercy was sufficient for yesterday; today's challenges meet today's mercies. You cannot stockpile God's grace any more than the Israelites could hoard manna in the wilderness — it must be gathered fresh, and it will always be there when you reach for it.
