Daily Bible Verse
Psalm 90:12 · KJV
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
Reflection
On this summer day, the psalmist Moses invites us into a sacred mathematics — not the counting of wealth or accomplishments, but the careful numbering of our days. Life is finite, a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Yet far from being a morbid meditation, this verse is a doorway into wisdom. When we truly grasp the brevity of our earthly journey, our priorities realign. The trivial loses its grip, and the eternal comes into focus. To 'apply our hearts unto wisdom' is to make a deliberate, daily choice. Wisdom is not absorbed passively; it is pursued. It means choosing prayer over worry, generosity over hoarding, forgiveness over bitterness, and faithfulness over fleeting pleasure. Every sunrise is a fresh invitation from God to invest your hours in what will outlast you — souls won, families nurtured, kingdom treasures stored in heaven where moth and rust cannot corrupt. As June draws to a close and the year reaches its midpoint, pause and ask: How am I spending the irreplaceable currency of my time? Are my days numbered toward wisdom, or scattered toward the wind? Let today be marked by intentional surrender — a heart turned upward, hands open to give, feet ready to walk where the Spirit leads. The wise heart is the prepared heart, and the prepared heart is ready for whatever God ordains.
